Lumberjack In a Desert
This is my way for everyone to keep in touch with me on my deployment to Iraq. In no way shape or form do I speak on behalf of the Army National Guard, my unit, my chain of command, or any other government entity.

Welcome to Iraq! Would you like to buy camel?
Hello from Iraq. Now before you let your little imaginations run crazy with all that crap you hear on the news, I'm doing fine. Everything has been going pretty well up to this point. Ok, its been going as well as it can in a country where not everyone likes you and you have to drive everywhere with guns mounted on top of your vehicle. But other than that, its like a beach. A really really big beach, with camels, goats, sheep, oil rigs.... and oh yeah, no water.
So whats it like in Iraq? Ummmmm gosh. Its different. I haven't seen the whole country (yet) and I'm not going to tell you where I am, but from what I can tell you the people do what they can to get by. The children always want food, and the parents always want water. Some people seem to have money, the most interesting thing I saw was while driving through a village with brick and mud huts with no windows, no sewage system, looking abandoned, but with a sattelite dishs on top of the houses. Crazy. I guess everyone has priorities.
Leave questions in the comments and I'll see what I can answer. Don't bother asking where I am, what I do or where I go, cause I won't tell you. I'm infantry in Iraq, thats all you need to know.
